SPECIAL SUBTITLES AVAILABLE: A CLASS ON SOLAR ECLIPSE
This spring, there will be a special physics session discussing the solar eclipse that will take place on Monday, April 8.
From March 7 to May 10, PHYS 199: “The Great North American Eclipse of 2024,” is available online. As an elective, it is worth one credit hour.
The course will cover the following topics: the causes of eclipses, safe viewing locations, how to witness an eclipse at full totality, and literary, artistic, cinematic, and musical allusions to eclipses.
The next eclipse that will pass so close to Morehead, Kentucky, won’t happen until 2145, according to physics professor and class instructor Dr. Jennifer Birriel. Thus, this is the eclipse to witness if you want to observe a total solar eclipse in your lifetime without having to travel for more than a few hours.
Call 606-783-2924 or send Birriel an email at j.birriel@moreheadstate.edu to learn more about the class.
